MORRISTOWN – The Morris County Democratic Committee is excited to announce that three local elected officials have filed to seek the office of Morris County Commissioner.

The slate is:

  • Bud Ravitz, a two-term Morris Township Committeeman and former Deputy Mayor
  • Jonathan Sackett, a two-term Rockaway Township Councilman, and former Council President and Vice President
  • Justin Strickland, a newly elected Chatham Borough Councilman

“They are going to break through the logjam of Republican control, bringing new ideas to the table, based on their practical experience governing in the community. It’s time to bring a new set of ideas and fresh thinking to the Board of County Commissioners,” said Morris County Democratic Chair Amalia Duarte.

The Commissioner ticket is joined by trial attorney John Holly, who is running for County Surrogate. In a strong showing of support, they filed petitions with hundreds of signatures, well above the minimum needed.

They are proud to run with the following candidates who share their core Democratic values:

  • Joseph R. Biden for President
  • Andy Kim for U.S. Senate
  • Mikie Sherrill for U.S. House of Representatives Congressional District 11
  • Sue Altman for U.S. House of Representatives, Congressional District 7

“We are excited to work hard to elect Democrats this year, starting from President Joe Biden at the top of the ticket down to our local municipal candidates,” said Chairwoman Duarte. “In the coming months, this energetic team of local elected officials will work hard to meet voters and earn their support across Morris County.”
