Morris & Somerset County Democrats Internship Program

The Morris and Somerset County Democratic Committees are seeking passionate and committed interns to join our 2026 Summer Internship Program. This is an important election cycle with two congressional seats open and the opportunity to elect a Democrat to the Morris County Commissioner Board since 1973, and critical local-level races across both counties. Morris and Somerset County Democrats are committed to meeting this moment and winning competitive races up and down the ballot.

Interns will work with the county parties in a coordinated effort with the endorsed campaigns to lead and execute our organizing efforts Morris and Somerset. There are opportunities for everyone on our team. Remote, hybrid, and in person options are available.

POSITION: Intern

STATUS: Unpaid, Part Time/Hybrid

REPORTS TO: County Campaign Manager and Executive Director

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in direct voter contact activities, including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and text outreach
• Attend and staff community meetings, meet-and-greets, and candidate events
• Provide administrative support to the senior team
• Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, partners, and community members to expand outreach efforts

Requirements

Must Have

• A passion for electing Democrats and engaging community members
• A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture
• Access to a cell phone and a reliable laptop
• Nice to Have: Access to a reliable car and a valid driver’s license

Program Details

This position begins on May 1 and runs through August 31, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Interns may have the opportunity to continue into the Fall Internship Program. College credit may be available in accordance with university guidelines.
